In 2015, Philippe Entremont was kind enough to perform with the Adrian Symphony, John Dodson conducting his last season with us. As principal clarinetist, I had many solos with the famed and magnificent pianist, particularly during the second movement.

Scott Gwinnell was honored to receive a grant to collaborate with John Clayton in 2009, creating a Concerto Grosso for the Clayton Brothers ensemble and the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra (myself on baritone saxophone). The work debuted at the Detroit International Jazz Festival that year. Two of the movements are below:

Sax 4th Avenue enjoyed a rare opportunity to play the Philip Glass Concerto for Saxophone Quartet with the Toledo Symphony in 2010. The Blade ran an article about the upcoming performance.

It should be noted that this quartet has been together with no change in personnel since 1991. On our 25th Anniversary, we had a performance in the town that gave us our first performing opportunity, Grand Rapids, OH. Below is one of our signature, crowd-pleasing favorites.

In 2011, two Adrian College students (Russell Millett and Austin Goodrich) hired Pete and myself to record with them in the legendary Sun Studios. Pete wrote a few tunes and we had fun with the project. Below is an example of our work from the day, myself on tenor saxophone.

During the Pandemic of 2020/21, the Adrian Symphony recorded a series of videos of ensembles connected with ASO members. Sax 4th Avenue was the fortunate beneficiary of one of these video presentations. You can watch our performance here: Sax 4th Avenue.
